Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Announces $250,000 Scholarships In Honor Of Their Centennial Year In Partnership With National Education Fund

25 scholarships in the name of the current and past presidents (Grand Basilei) of the historic

New York, New York (November 22, 2021)  - To celebrate a historic moment in history, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and the National Education Fund, Inc. (NEF) have partnered to continue their mission of Greater Service, Greater Progress by creating 25 scholarships in the name of the current and past presidents (Grand Basilei) of the Sorority.   Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority National Education Fund, Inc. is proud to continue the legacy of the founders and has donated over a million dollars in scholarships to students enrolled in college at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. Applicants for scholarships must be an incoming freshman, continuing and/or transfer student at an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution in the United States, and must be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate courses of study. The minimum cumulative G.P.A. requirement  is 2.5. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic and personal merit, as well as demonstrated involvement within their respective community. Each scholarship is a one-time $10,000 award. The application deadline is March 12, 2022.

About Sigma Gamma Rho:

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized on November 12, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana, by seven young educators: Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Vivian Irene White Marbury, Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson, Hattie Mae Annette Dulin Redford, Bessie Mae Downey Rhoades Martin, and Cubena McClure. The group became an incorporated national collegiate sorority on December 30, 1929, when a charter was granted to the Alpha chapter at Butler University. Sigma Gamma Rho has welcomed more than 100,000 collegiate and professional women from every profession.
