Stop AAPI Hate Statement

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Those words, which were spoken at the height of the civil rights movement of our past, continue to ring true, and are painfully haunting, as we are forced to fight for civil rights and racial equalities in our present day.

We are still fighting because of HATE, and for years, that one word has been the disruptive spirit behind some of the most tumultuous and devastating events of our history. Today, hate has become its own pandemic and it is fueling what feels like domestic terrorism in our world.

it Must Stop!

Over the last few months, we have witnessed disturbing acts of violence against Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Lives have been lost and others are changed forever.

Having been birthed during an era of unapologetic hate, the founders of our beloved Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., stood boldly in the face of racial adversity and pushed forward to create an organization built on sisterhood with a heart and focus on providing service to mankind. Therefore, we stand in solidarity with the AAPI community, and other communities of color, and declare in chorus that an attack on one is an attack on ALL!

We condemn hate, we condemn violence and we condemn terriorism, domestic or elsewhere, and as we join in efforts to #StopAsianHate, we pledge our support and focus on calling out and correcting the racial inequities and prejudices that plague our world.

Something has got to change and it starts with us! #StopAAPIHate #StopAsianHate #StopHate
